Neurological States Detected with our NeuroDynamics Program:
Balanced: This state is best described as "allostasis". Allostasis is the desired state for ideal health expression.
Signs of a balanced system include high energy, fewer aches and pains, higher resistance to infections, positive mental attitude, present time consciousness, alertness, excellent overall health, and diminished signs of aging.
Over-Aroused: This state has high energy demands and is the most common imbalance, mostly caused by a high-stress lifestyle. When the body is over-stressed for a long period of time, the overtaxed system starts to create symptoms that are lumped into various disease categories. In truth, the symptoms are nothing more than the body's cry for help.
Symptoms include frequent colds, cold hands and feet, bowel problems,
restless
sleep, tight muscles, accelerated aging, heart palpations, poor expression of emotions, nervousness, anxiety, ulcers and high blood pressure.
Under-Aroused: This state has low energy expression. If you think of depression in it's classic form, then this is a picture of the body's response in this state. People who are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD fall into this
category
. The ADD/ADHD system is so depressed and slow that it causes the person to express "hyperactivity"...constant movement and action is their system's attempt to stay awake and alert.
Symptoms include ADD/ADHD, hypoglycemia, poor concentration, cognitive worry, irritability, distraction, disorganization, muddledness, poor awakening, low pain threshold, impulsivity, low energy and incontinence.
Instable: This state includes both the over- and under-arousal patterns, while adding a few of it's own, depending on the severity of the state. As stress is added, the nervous system tries to adapt by readjusting itself, swinging between over- and under-arousal.
Symptoms include headaches, narcolepsy, hot flashes, bi-polar disorder, eating disorders, allergies, bed wetting, seizures, sleep walking, mood swings and panic attacks.
Exhausted: This state is the most dangerous of all and is the most severe stage of imbalance. The system is into chaos
existence
mode. It is so over-stressed that
its
systems are no longer able to work in harmony. This can be so severe that the body systems start attacking each other.
Its
own communication system is in such disarray that messages and responses no longer match. Unchecked, it will be life-ending.
Besides all of the symptoms listed in the over-aroused category, this stage will also include fevers, Epstein-Barr Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Depression and auto-immune disorders.
NeuroDynamics
Neurologically Based Chiropractic
The healing arts community has known for years that disease can be divided into two categories:
1.) a state of over activity
2.) a state of under activity
Medicine's traditional approach has been to develop drugs that either stimulate or depress the body's system to attempt to achieve normal balance -- also known as homeostasis. This medical approach is still practiced today. If disease is a result of an imbalance in the body's system, then "good health" must be the result of a balanced system.
The system we're speaking of is your body's nervous system. Ironically, Chiropractic works in conjunction with your nervous system to restore health and vitality. The Center for Family Wellness employs technologically advanced equipment to measure the state of your nervous system. After we've analyzed the results, we can show you the reasons behind your health challenge. Once you're aware of the causes, we discuss a program of care that helps return your system to its normal allostatic balance.
Chiropractic's Intent
As Chiropractors, our intent is to help your nervous system return to a healthy and balanced state by removing interference and retraining normal patterns of adaptation to your environment and daily stressors.
As Chiropractors, our job is to access your nervous system and to either stimulate or depress it by using a Chiropractic "adjustment". Adjustments reposition the vertebrae so that they function normally,
eliminating
the interference to your nervous system and returning your system to its normal, balanced state.
Your Challenge
After reviewing the different neurological states listed on the left, determine the state in which your body is functioning. Your symptoms and health challenges may point to one specific state, or you could be exhibiting various symptoms of different states. If you find yourself in the Instable or Exhausted state, the first plan of action would be to discuss the choices that are available to return you to a balanced state. Both of these stages can become serious very quickly and they require a great deal of understanding and care.
